In case you’re wondering, Derpy Hooves is a pony fans named after one of the animators of the show decided to give a background character googly-eyes. The popularity she received earned her a semi-official status when the show creators began using the fan-assigned name. Beginning with the episode Feeling Pinkie Keen, they started giving her wall-eyes intentionally and they have stuck that way ever since.
